First test in the new category for Pecco for Stefano Manzi on Kalex

Jerez de la Frontera (Spain), November 17th, 2016 – Just four days after the last race of 2016, the Sky Racing Team VR46 makes its debut in Moto2 with Francesco Bagnaia and Stefano Manzi. At the end of the two days of testing at Jerez de la Frontera, Francesco Bagnaia is the best rookie on the track with a best of 1.43.151 (9th) while Manzi scored a good 1.45.142, which earned him the 18th place in the standings.

Both riders started to become familiar with their Kalex in particular, Pecco – who next season will race with the number 42 – is just 8 tenths to the leader of the day (Nakagami, 1.42.280), satisfied with his 105 laps. Manzi, who made a great step today, is looking forward to get back on track. Bagnaia and Manzi – who in 2017 will have the number 62 – will be on their Kalex for another test next week at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.

MOTO3 – After Sunday’s podium at Valencia, also Andrea Migno has tried the 2017 KTM on the Spanish track. It was a good first approach for the young talent of the Sky Racing Team VR46, with a best lap time of 1.47.150 (3rd in the Moto3 standings). Nicolò Bulega, who is recovering from the shoulder injury, after the race, came back to Italy.

Pablo Nieto

“I am happy with this debut in Moto2 with Pecco and Stefano on Kalex. It was a positive first step for this new team and riders. We are looking forward to getting back on track at Valencia to try the new bikes on a completely different track. For the Moto3, Andrea had the chance to try the 2017 KTM, he had some problems yesterday, but today he was able to get close to the fastest guys.”

Francesco Bagnaia

“I’m happy with this debut in Moto2 and the new team: yesterday we started on the right foot and today I was able to be fast right from the beginning. I found a good pace and this will be very useful for the race. The setting on which we have been working allows me to ride as I want and this is very important if we think about the future.”

Stefano Manzi

“A positive start: I like the bike and also the atmosphere in the team is great. I am satisfied, I made about sixty laps today and I’m looking forward to continuing the work in Valencia. We are not far from the top guys and we can improve.”

MOTO3 – Andrea Migno

“It is good to be back on track after the podium for testing the new KTM. There are still a lot of things to do, but I’m happy with this first test. I managed to get close to the strongest guys and I’m really confident for the next season.”
